New York Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov will man the crease as his team takes on the visiting Colorado Avalanche on Monday. The 31-year-old, who spent the previous eight seasons with the Avalanche, will face his old team for the first time since signing a four-year contract with the Isles this past summer. Having started the past five contests, Varlamov seems to have run away with the starting role on Long Island, showcasing consistent excellence for his new team throughout the first half of the campaign. In 26 appearances, the Russian netminder has posted a 2.40 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage while earning 14 victories.
