Wade Davis Blows Up Against Dodgers

Entering an 8-8 ballgame in the ninth inning, Colorado Rockies closer Wade Davis was simply tasked with getting the game to extra innings. He went a different direction. Davis put two runners on, and then a bloop single by Chris Taylor brought one run home. From there, Davis was able to get an out, but then he gave up the final nail in the coffin, a pinch-hit three-run home run by Kike Hernandez to center field. The shot was on a meatball fastball in the heart of the zone, and Davis knew it was gone the second it was hit. He took the loss, and it made his third straight appearance without a single strikeout. Davis is walking a ridiculous six batters per nine innings, only striking out nine per nine, and now has a 6.00 ERA. The 11 saves are not worth it, people.
