Nick Pivetta Struggles Versus Nationals

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Nick Pivetta gave up six runs in 5 1/3 innings pitched againt the Nationals on Thursday night. Pivetta gave up three home runs for the second straight start as he continues to be one of the most polarizing pitchers in the game. Prior to those two starts, he'd given up one run in 15 innings but had been hit hard the past two times out. At this point, it may be time to accept Pivetta for what he is, a good pitcher capable of dominating good matchups but one who is prone to blow up starts. He strikes out about a batter per inning with a league average swinging strike rate and has a FIP in the upper threes. He'll look to rebound vs the Mets next Wednesday.
