Detroit Tigers shortstop Jordy Mercer (quadriceps) ran on an elliptical machine on Wednesday and felt fine. He expects to be ready to come off the 10-day injured list around when he's eligible to return next Wednesday. Mercer is a glove-first shortstop that was hitting .233 (10-for-43) with no homers and two RBI at the time of his injury. Even when he returns, he's not much of a fantasy option, even in the deepest of leagues. Ronny Rodriguez and Gordon Beckham will continue to fill in at the 6 until Mercer returns. Neither of them are attractive in AL-only leagues.--Keith Hernandez
