Toronto Maple Leafs center John Tavares played a part in three goals on Thursday, finishing a 4-2 win over New Jersey with two goals and an assist. He became the first player from the 2009 NHL Draft to reach 300 career goals. Since entering the league, only Alex Ovechkin and Steven Stamkos have scored more. Ron Hainsey and Mitchell Marner also scored for the Leafs. Tavares now has 29 goals and 50 points for the season.
