Charlie Blackmon Misses Heroics By Inches

When Colorado Rockies center fielder Charlie Blackmon came up to bat in the top of the ninth, it looked like Milwaukee's bullpen may have sprung a leak. Closer Jeremy Jeffress had just given up a pair of singles after Colorado had only gotten one hit all game, and Blackmon was up. He drilled a pitch down the line that would have cleared the bases, but instead, it fell centimeters foul. Blackmon would still go on to single and knock in one, but he was later thrown out at the plate on a fielder's choice. He likely would have scored if he'd had one extra base to start with, and in a game that was then decided with a walk-off in the bottom of the 10th inning, that would have been a critical run.
