Marquez Valdes-Scantling Stands Out in Preseason Game
There were not too many notable performances in the Green Bay Packers first preseason game when they played the Tennessee Titans. However, rookie wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling made a strong case for himself. He caught five passes for 101 yards and a touchdown. This includes a 51 yarder in the third quarter. Valdes-Scantling was the second of three wide receivers drafted by Green Bay in 2018. It is hard to get too excited about Valdes-Scantling. He was matched up against players who may not even be on a roster a month from now. Additionally, he was one of the players singled out by Aaron Rodgers as displaying piss-poor effort and execution in practice. Still, with his biggest competition, J’Mon Moore, struggling with dropped passes this performance was a nice start. It is hard to Valdes-Scantling getting much playing time in his rookie year even with the opportunity created by the departure of Jordy Nelson. Valdes-Scantling should only be viewed as a fringe roster candidate in deep dynasty leagues.
