New England Patriots wide receiver Jordan Matthews (hamstring) was placed on Injured Reserve on Wednesday and wasn't released, as was reported earlier, according to a source. He could negotiate an injury settlement and eventually be released by the team. Either way, Matthews won't be in the team's plans this year, which is a shame for Matthews, as he had a shot to contribute early on with Julian Edelman suspended.
