New York Mets catchter Devin Mesoraco may have had only one hit in the team’s 3-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night, but it was a big one. Coming to the plate in the ninth inning after outfielder Michael Conforto put the Mets up with a two-run shot, Mesoraco gave the Mets an insurance run with a dinger of his own. While it’s far from a sure thing that this will be the start of better things to come for Mesoraco, the thought has been that he would produce more with consistent playing time – which he’s sure to get in New York. We’re certainly not recommending to run out and pick up Mesoraco, but given his past he is absolutely someone to monitor.--John Smith
