Chris Archer Earns First Starter Victory For Rays

Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Chris Archer earned the first victory by a Rays starting pitcher of the season Monday versus the White Sox. He went 5 2/3 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) while striking out eight. The Rays won for the first time since the season opener. Archer is an elite strikeout pitcher who has had at least 233 K's in each of the past three seasons. Archer and the Rays were likely relieved to be facing someone other than the Yankees or Red Sox, a dream that will continue in Archer's next scheduled outing against Philadelphia.
