Bobby Witt Jr. 2026 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Top Shortstop Still a Five-Category Force
Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. couldn't build on his electrifying 2024 campaign, but still finished his fourth season with 23 home runs, 38 steals, and a .295 batting average over 157 games. After eclipsing triple digits in both runs and RBI in '24, he fell short with 99 runs and 88 RBI, but hope springs eternal for the 25-year-old. Though his barrel rate and power output dipped, his overall exit velocity rose from 92.7 mph to 93.3 mph, posting a new career-high max exit velo of 117.5 mph. But he gave back all of the gains seen in xBA, xSLG, and xwOBA from 2024, regressing to 2023 levels for the most part. And his 30.2 feet/second sprint speed was still healthy, sitting at third among qualified players. To be clear, he still has marks that are typically in the top 10% of ballplayers, and so it's "bad" against a very elite bar that's been set. And Kauffman Stadium will have its walls shortened by 18 inches and moved in 9-10 feet in the power alleys, tapering to the foul poles. Perhaps this results in a couple more homers, with THE BAT X moving from 30.2 to 31.4 projected HRs. Anyone taking him near his No. 3 ADP and RotoBaller rank will enjoy a strong foundation in all five traditional fantasy categories.
