Jay Hill Expected to be Next Michigan Defensive Coordinator
According to On3's Pete Nakos, Michigan is targeting BYU defensive coordinator Jay Hill as its next defensive coordinator. The program has officially hired longtime Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham to lead its program, and he is in the process of building his staff in Ann Arbor. Hill was on the Utah staff with Whittingham from 2001 to 2013 before nine seasons as the head coach at Weber State and three seasons as the Cougars' defensive play-caller. In 2025, BYU finished third in the Big 12 in total defense (333.6) and fourth in scoring defense (19.1). No deal has been finalized between Hill and Michigan, but it is expected to get done in the coming days.
