Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks

Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting for Week 15 TNF:

Kirk Cousins, QB, Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins completed just 15 of 30 pass attempts in Week 14 for 162 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions, both of which came in the second half as the Falcons tried to play catch-up in what turned out to be a 37-9 blowout loss despite being tied 6-6 at the half.

The 37-year-old now owns a 3:3 TD:INT through four starts, and will be without top receiver Drake London (knee) for a third straight game, leaving Darnell MooneyKyle Pitts Sr. (knee), and Bijan Robinson as the team's top passing options. The veteran has seen a lot of success when targeting his 6-foot-6 tight end, but it seems Pitts is inexplicably not an option in the red zone, with the 25-year-old last receiving a red zone target back in Week 9, while the likes of David Sills V and Dylan Drummond commanded a total of five red zone targets in Week 14 alone.

If Cousins can focus his attention on the team's top talent, there could be an opportunity to be fantasy relevant, however, the 4x Pro Bowler is outside the QB2 range for Week 15 Thursday Night Football.

Mike Evans, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said that wide receiver Mike Evans (collarbone) has "shown everything he needed to show in practice" to be activated off Injured Reserve for the team's Week 15 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday, per Greg Auman of Fox Sports.

All indications are pointing to Evans making his return on Thursday night from a broken collarbone that has sidelined him since Week 7. Across the four games he's been active for this season, the 32-year-old has hauled in 14 receptions for 140 yards and a touchdown on 32 targets. Given the long injury layoff, Tampa Bay could choose to work him back in slowly and limit his snap share in Week 15.

Still, Evans could immediately slot in as the Buccaneers' top pass-catcher alongside wide receivers Emeka Egbuka and Chris Godwin. If active, Evans profiles as a low-end fantasy WR2 in Week 15.

Tyler Allgeier, RB, Atlanta Falcons

Across 13 games this season, Atlanta Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier has recorded 108 carries for 378 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. The 25-year-old's workload upside is limited by the presence of star Falcons back Bijan Robinson. However, as evidenced by his eight rushing touchdowns, Atlanta has shown a willingness to use Allgeier near the goal line.

Additionally, Allgeier has now earned double-digit touches in four out of his last five games, and he's recorded 68 receiving yards over the last two weeks. As the 4-9 Falcons hit the home stretch of the season, they could be looking to lighten Robinson's workload and put more on the plate of Allgeier. Even if he remains firmly behind Robinson the rest of the way, Allgeier's touchdown upside gives him flex appeal in the right matchups.

Heading into his Week 15 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Allgeier profiles as a priority handcuff option with some standalone value and should be rostered in all fantasy leagues with 12 or more teams.

Chris Godwin, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin Jr. (leg) remains on the injury report and was listed as a limited participant in Monday's walkthrough practice, according to FOX Sports' Greg Auman. The Bucs continue to limit Godwin's practice availability early in the week since his return from a fractured fibula in Week 12.

The 29-year-old played only 36% of the snaps in Week 12, catching two of four targets for nine yards. Godwin has seen more of the field the last two weeks, though, playing at least 66% of the snaps and combining for eight catches and 133 yards on 13 targets.

He had a season-high five receptions on eight targets for 55 yards in Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints. Godwin should be fine to play on Thursday night against the division-rival Atlanta Falcons, but the potential return of receivers Mike Evans (collarbone) and Jalen McMillan (neck) will cut into Godwin's target share going forward.

Darnell Mooney, WR, Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Darnell Mooney was limited to just one catch on four targets for six yards this past week, his fifth one-catch performance of the season in 11 games played. The 28-year-old has had an opportunity to become the team's top receiver with Drake London (knee) missing the last three weeks due to injury, however, that role appears to have been occupied by tight end Kyle Pitts Sr.

The 5-foot-11 wideout played on just 77 percent of the team's offensive snaps in Week 14, while David Sills V logged 94 percent and the aforementioned Pitts totaled 92 percent. The veteran will have another chance to carve out an expanded role in Week 15 versus the Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football, with London ruled out again and against a pass defense that is middle of the road in terms of fantasy points allowed to opposing wide receivers, but a unit that has yielded the sixth-most yards in the NFL through the air this season.

For what it's worth, Mooney had a touchdown reception overturned last week because he stepped on the sideline before securing the pass, which could have been his second touchdown in the last three games despite the limited volume. Still, considering the situation at quarterback and Mooney's inability to garner sufficient targets, he falls outside the WR3 range this week, making him more of a boom/bust Flex play on TNF.

Rachaad White, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Rachaad White was dropped in a lot of fantasy leagues when backfield mate Bucky Irving returned in last week's win over the Arizona Cardinals. With Irving back in the fold, White played only 38% of the offensive snaps in Week 13, his lowest number since Week 3.

The 26-year-old had only two carries for seven yards against Arizona and caught all three of his targets for 22 yards. However, White was more involved in the upset loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, playing 49% of the snaps while seeing 11 rushing attempts for 53 yards. He caught one pass for a two-yard gain. Irving had four more carries than White, but White was more effective, averaging 4.8 yards per carry.

No. 3 back Sean Tucker saw seven carries for 29 yards. White will still be involved in Tampa's backfield and appears to be the RB2, but his limited opportunities in the passing game now make him mostly a bench stash in fantasy leagues as long as Irving stays healthy the rest of the way.

Kyle Pitts, TE, Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. (knee) tied a season-high on Sunday with 10 targets and eclipsed his season-high yardage total -- which was set in Week 13 -- with 90 yards receiving on six catches. He did not find the end zone, as he's still sitting with just one touchdown on the season, but the 25-year-old has been plenty useful on volume alone, especially in PPR leagues.

With Drake London (knee) missing the last three games (and also Week 8), the 6-foot-6 tight end has become Kirk Cousins' favorite pass-catcher, averaging eight targets, six receptions, and 64 yards receiving per contest in the four games with Cousins under center this season. Pitts popped up on the injury report earlier in the week with a knee injury and was a limited participant up to and including Wednesday's practice, resulting in a questionable designation for Thursday's matchup on the road against the Buccaneers.

London, however, has been ruled out for TNF, so Pitts could be in line to maintain his temporary status as the team's No. 1 receiver again in Week 15 so long as he's active. Tampa Bay is middle of the pack in terms of fantasy points allowed to opposing tight ends, but the fifth-year pro shapes up as a mid-range TE1 for Thursday, so fantasy managers will want to double-check his status before kickoff.

Bijan Robinson, RB, Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson put up solid numbers on the ground in Week 14, rushing 20 times for 86 yards, however, he caught just two passes for eight yards and did not score. Despite getting down big in the second half, Kirk Cousins targeted the 2024 Pro Bowler just two times, which was as many targets as Tyler Allgeier received, while Dylan Drummond and David Sills V combined for nine targets.

Robinson was averaging over six targets per game with Michael Penix Jr. (knee) under center, but has seen that total drop to just over three targets per contest with Cousins, which has lowered his fantasy floor at the worst possible time for fantasy managers.

Even so, on Thursday night, the 23-year-old faces a Buccaneers defense that has been easier to run on than they have been in recent years despite the presence of run-stuffing Vita Vea, yielding the 13th-most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season, along with allowing a league-worst 53.9 receiving yards per game to opposing backs. The University of Texas product will again be a high-end RB1 in Week 15, with plenty of upside if Cousins can direct a few more passes his way instead of the less explosive supporting cast.
