Week 15 Tight End Rankings Outlooks

Theo Johnson, New York Giants

New York Giants tight end Theo Johnson will return from his team's bye week and look to continue his solid season, working as one of the top targets for Jaxson Dart. Johnson has at least three catches in seven straight games and has totaled 42 catches for 456 yards and five touchdowns in his 13 games this season. He matched his season high with eight targets against the Patriots in his most recent game before the bye week, and he has established a solid rapport with Dart, which makes him one of the best widely available tight end plays in most leagues.

Johnson hasn't hit 100 yards in any game yet, but he has posted at least 75 yards in two of his last four games, showing he has a good ceiling to go with his solid PPR floor. The Giants have a favorable schedule the rest of the season, starting this week with a home game against the struggling Commanders.

Mike Gesicki, Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati Bengals tight end Mike Gesicki had his best game of the season in Week 14 against the Buffalo Bills, recording six catches for 82 yards and a touchdown on six targets. The 30-year-old's involvement in the Cincinnati passing game has been trending up in recent weeks, as he's earned 16 targets across his last three games played. Gesicki could move even further up the pecking order in Week 15 against the Baltimore Ravens with Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins (concussion) back in concussion protocol.

Higgins played in Week 14 after missing Week 13 due to a head injury, but he re-entered the league's concussion protocol on Monday. If Higgins is sidelined, Gesicki could be a solid streaming option for fantasy managers at the tight end position in Week 15. He should be a waiver-wire target in all leagues with 14 or more teams.

AJ Barner, Seattle Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks tight end AJ Barner has been pretty inconsistent this year, but that could change soon. Barner has been splitting up the tight end reps with rookie Elijah Arroyo (knee), who went down during the Week 14 victory over the Atlanta Falcons with a knee injury that could cause him to miss time. Barner figures to see an expanded role if Arroyo is forced to miss additional time. The 23-year-old hasn't been an ideal fantasy option lately, with 35 receiving yards or fewer in each of his last three games.

Barner could see a few more targets coming his way, assuming Arroyo is unable to play against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 15. Barner is someone worth monitoring on the waiver wire in deep leagues this week and will have more TE2 streaming appeal if Arroyo is out.

Kyle Pitts Sr., Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. (knee) is on the team's Week 15 injury report and was listed as limited for Monday's estimated practice, according to Tori McElhaney of AtlantaFalcons.com. Pitts looked fine in the team's Week 14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, catching six of his 10 targets for a season-high 90 yards while playing 92% of the offensive snaps. The Falcons are likely just giving the 25-year-old a little rest going into Thursday's divisional clash against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Pitts' 10 targets on Sunday matched a season high, and he's had 13 catches on 18 targets for 172 yards the last two weeks with top wideout Drake London (knee) sidelined with a PCL sprain. If London misses a third straight game this week, Pitts will once again have more upside as a TE1 for fantasy managers. In the Week 1 loss to Tampa, Pitts had seven catches on eight targets for 59 yards.

Zach Ertz, Washington Commanders

An MRI exam on Monday confirmed that Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz (knee) suffered a season-ending torn ACL in the Week 14 shutout loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. It's tough news for the 35-year-old veteran, who will finish his 13th year in the NFL with 50 receptions on 72 targets for 504 yards and four touchdowns in 13 starts in his second year with the Commanders.

Fantasy managers can safely drop Ertz now. Ben Sinnott will be the best bet for most of the targets as the team's top pass-catching TE with Ertz done for the year, although he will be sharing snaps with John Bates and Colson Yankoff. At best, Sinnott will be a low-end TE2 streamer for fantasy managers in deeper leagues in Week 15 when Washington battles the division-rival New York Giants on the road.

Harold Fannin Jr., Cleveland Browns

Cleveland Browns rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr. deserves to be rostered in more than 40% of Yahoo leagues, especially after his big eight-catch, 114-yard performance in Sunday's loss to the Tennessee Titans that included his fourth touchdown of the year, and second in as many weeks. The 21-year-old third-rounder out of Bowling Green led Cleveland in targets (11), catches, and receiving yards in a surprisingly high-scoring game between the Browns and Titans in snowy conditions in Cleveland.

Fellow TE David Njoku also found the end zone on Sunday, but he was injured on the play and never returned due to a knee injury. Fannin hadn't cleared 50 receiving yards in a game before Week 14 since Oct. 26, so it was nice to see him targeted early and often by rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Even if Njoku can play in Week 15 against the Bears, Fannin will be on the TE1 radar in fantasy football.
