Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks

Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 13:

Juwan Johnson, TE, Saints

New Orleans Saints tight end Juwan Johnson isn't the sexiest name by any means at his position, primarily because he resides in a Saints offense that is tied for last in the league with 15 points scored per game. However, Johnson has been the No. 2 option in the passing game in New Orleans in 2025 behind receiver Chris Olave, and he enters Week 13 action tied with Hunter Henry at 8.7 half-PPR fantasy points per contest.

The 29-year-old had touchdown catches in back-to-back games going into the Week 12 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, including a season-high 92 receiving yards before the team's Week 11 bye. On Sunday, Johnson had six catches (second-most in a game this year) on seven targets for 46 yards against Atlanta. His 67 targets through 11 games in 2025 tie him for seventh at the TE position.

Johnson will be in position as an intriguing low-end TE1 in fantasy in a plus matchup this weekend versus Miami. He is on pace for a career-best season.

Darren Waller, TE, Dolphins

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel reports that tight end Darren Waller (pectoral) could return for Sunday's home clash with the New Orleans Saints. The veteran had his 21-day practice window opened earlier this week, suggesting that he's close to a return. Per McDaniel, he's optimistic about Waller's status for Week 13's game against the visiting Saints, though it's "all dependent on today's [Friday] practice."

Barring any setbacks, it appears that the 33-year-old is trending toward being available. While it wouldn't be surprising to see Miami play it slow with his snap count following the layoff, fantasy managers will find it difficult to sit him if active, considering his touchdown upside.

T.J. Hockenson, TE, Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings' season has gone from bad to worse, and tight end T.J. Hockenson now finds himself in TE3 territory as the club travels to Seattle in Week 13. The Vikings will not only be without starter J.J. McCarthy (concussion), but backup Carson Wentz (shoulder) is already out for the season, leaving the team to start undrafted rookie Max Brosmer against a strong Seattle defense that is allowing scoring drives at the second-lowest rate in the NFL.

Hockenson has cracked the top 15 PPR tight ends only once this season, and now he's relying upon a complete unknown under center. Predictably, the Vikings are the biggest underdog of the weekend, so managers rostering Hockenson may want to steer clear of this entire situation, even in formats that start two tight ends.

Hunter Henry, TE, Patriots

New England Patriots tight end Hunter Henry caught seven of his 10 targets for 115 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's Week 12 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. It's no secret that Cincinnati is the worst team in the NFL when it comes to defending opposing tight ends, and Henry capitalized on this favorable matchup. The veteran entered this week as the overall TE13 in PPR leagues, but he jumped all the way into the top five on Sunday afternoon.

He's unlikely to replicate this outing next Thursday against the New York Giants, but he's still worth starting as a low-end TE1 in fantasy football.

Dalton Schultz, TE, Texans

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz has been very busy this season and emerged as a PPR contributor in his team's passing attack. Last week against the Bills, he only had one catch, snapping a streak of 10 straight games with multiple receptions to start the season. He had at least six catches in three straight games before last Thursday's letdown, and he'll look to bounce back in Week 13 as the Texans head to Indianapolis to face the Colts in a divisional matchup.

The Colts have been a favorable matchup for tight ends, and Schultz will get C.J. Stroud back at QB after he missed three weeks with a concussion. Stroud and Schultz have a strong connection, which is enough to make Schultz the No. 13 TE in the RotoBaller Week 13 rankings. He's not quite a "must-start" in this matchup, but he definitely makes a strong option in 12-team leagues or if you need some help at the position due to injury or ineffectiveness of the other options available this week.
