Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 13:
C.J. Stroud, QB, Texans
Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud (concussion) has cleared the league's concussion protocol and will return to the field in Week 13 when the Texans face the Colts in a divisional clash. With Stroud sidelined since exiting a Week 9 loss to the Broncos, the Texans have reeled off three straight wins with Davis Mills at the helm and put themselves right back in the race for the AFC South crown.
While the defense has been the main catalyst for the late-season surge, receivers Nico Collins and Jayden Higgins have enjoyed arguably the best three-game stretches of their respective seasons. With that success appearing to come on the heels of a philosophical offensive shift, rather than just a quarterback change, both players should see continued involvement.
Collins is RotoBaller's WR 11 for the week, while Higgins remains in flex consideration in deeper leagues against a Colts defense that still ranks as below average against the pass, despite recent improvements.
Jaxson Dart, QB, Giants
New York Giants interim head coach Mike Kafka confirmed on Friday that rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart (concussion) will start on Monday night versus the New England Patriots, according to Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record. Dart, who has missed the last two games due to a concussion, cleared the league's concussion protocol this week and will return to starting duties in Week 13, sending veteran Jameis Winston back to the bench after he nearly led the G-Men to an upset over the Detroit Lions last week.
Despite a less-than-ideal matchup against the Patriots on Monday, the 22-year-old Dart should immediately be back in the QB1 conversation in fantasy football because of his dual-threat abilities. In the first seven starts of his career, Dart has been impressive with his arm and legs, throwing for 1,417 yards, 10 touchdowns, and three interceptions while adding 317 rushing yards and 7 TDs on the ground.
Sam Darnold, QB, Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold avoided mistakes and delivered another efficient performance in a Week 12 win over the Tennessee Titans, completing 16 of 26 passes for 244 yards and two touchdowns. After turning it over seven times in the past two games, Darnold took advantage of a poor Titans defense and put up his best fantasy performance since eviscerating the Washington Commanders for 330 yards and four touchdowns in Week 9.
The 28-year-old repeatedly looked for superstar wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba and delivered a few beautiful deep balls for explosive gains, including a 63-yard touchdown. Darnold likely shouldn't be viewed as an every-week starter for fantasy purposes due to the low pass volume and poor track record against top-flight defenses. But he gets a revenge spot in Week 13 against his former team, the Minnesota Vikings.
Jacoby Brissett, QB, Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett continues to put up solid numbers on a weekly basis, and he can be a solid option in deep leagues or two-quarterback formats. The veteran has thrown for over 250 yards in each of his six starts, while totaling 11 touchdowns and just three interceptions. Last week, he threw for 317 yards and a touchdown in the team's loss to the Jaguars while adding 20 rushing yards.
He has been given a huge volume of pass attempts with a limited run game and a defense that typically leaves him playing from behind. He's put together impressive numbers, and he will get at least one more start this week against the Buccaneers before Kyler Murray (foot) is eligible to return from IR. Given how productive he has been, the Cards may opt to stick with Brissett, depending on their direction for the future beyond this season.
For fantasy purposes, Brissett can be a solid option this week against the Bucs, but a Week 14 matchup with the Rams would be tough even if he gets another start.
