Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 13:
Jaylen Waddle, WR, Dolphins
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (foot) was a limited participant during Wednesday's practice session. This seems a bit odd as Waddle wasn't dealing with a foot injury before the bye week. It's unclear when he suffered the injury, but the fact that he was limited suggests it's a minor issue. Waddle should be ready to go against the New Orleans Saints in Week 13, as he was able to quickly upgrade to full participation on Thursday.
Waddle has enjoyed a massive bounce-back season, averaging a dominant 14.9 PPR points since taking over the WR1 duties in Miami following Tyreek Hill's season-ending injury. During this stretch, Waddle has seen 7.1 targets per game and remains a must-start high-end WR2 in all formats facing the Saints on Sunday afternoon.
TreVeyon Henderson, RB, Patriots
New England Patriots rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson took advantage of backfield mate Rhamondre Stevenson missing three games with a toe injury, compiling 264 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns on 47 carries over that span. The 23-year-old second-rounder also added 10 catches on 12 targets for 66 yards and another TD. He had at least 14 rushing attempts in all three of those starts.
Stevenson returned in the Week 12 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, but Henderson outsnapped him 46 to 22 and saw a healthy 18 carries for 66 yards, adding three receptions for 15 yards on four targets. Stevenson will continue to be involved if he's healthy in New England's backfield, but it looks like Henderson has finally taken over starting duties for the Pats as they head into a Monday night tilt against the Giants in Week 13.
Against New York, Henderson will have clear RB1 upside in fantasy in a plus matchup.
Trey Benson, RB, Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals running back (knee) wasn't present in Thursday's practice. Benson was limited on Wednesday and not spotted for Thursday's session. The 23-year-old has not played since suffering a knee injury in Week 4. It's unclear if Benson was given a maintenance day, but fantasy managers should continue to monitor the situation. He will have one more day to practice ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Emari Demercado (ankle) was also not spotted at practice. If Benson and Demercado are unable to go in Week 13, look for Bam Knight and Michael Carter to lead Arizona's backfield once again. If active, Benson is considered a FLEX play in the first game back since Week 4 and is ranked 36th among all running backs heading into this week.
Nico Collins, WR, Texans
Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins was only targeted three times on Thursday Night, catching all three passes but finishing with only 55 yards. He was not targeted at all in the second half. Despite his down game, Collins' team was still able to pull out a huge win over the Bills, 23-19, to remain right in the middle of the playoff hunt in the AFC. The Texans have won three straight under Davis Mills, but they'll hope to get C.J. Stroud (concussion) back for next week's huge divisional road game against the Colts.
If Stroud returns, Collins will have a higher ceiling, but he has gotten so much volume in the rest of his games this season that he should be poised for a bounce-back performance next week, regardless of who is under center.
