Fernando Mendoza the Clear Heisman Trophy Favorite?
Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza delivered another strong performance in the 31-7 win over Wisconsin in Week 12, further cementing himself as a Heisman Trophy finalist at season's end. The Cal transfer completed 22 of his 24 passing attempts for 299 yards and four touchdowns in Bloomington on Saturday and is now listed as the favorite (-110) to win the award. Overall, Mendoza has completed 73% of his passes for 2,641 yards, 30 touchdowns (school record), and five interceptions. He's added 216 yards and five more scores as a runner. It's shaping up to be a two-man race between the Hoosier's quarterback and Ohio State signal-caller Julian Sayin, but Texas A&M's Marcel Reed, Vanderbilt's Diego Pavia, Notre Dame's Jeremiyah Love, and Georgia's Gunner Stockton are still technically in contention as long-shot picks.
