Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 5:
Dillon Gabriel, QB, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Tommy Rees said that coaches felt it was the "right time" to make the switch at quarterback from veteran Joe Flacco to rookie Dillon Gabriel after the Week 4 loss to the Detroit Lions, according to Scott Petrak of Browns Zone.
Rees also said that the team is trying to "spark the offense" with the QB shakeup as they head into a Week 5 international matchup in London against the Minnesota Vikings. For now, Flacco will hold the clipboard on the sideline as the QB2, with rookie fifth-rounder Shedeur Sanders sticking as the QB3.
Gabriel undoubtedly will give the Browns more mobility at the position going forward, but with injuries on Cleveland's offensive line, it's not going to be easy, especially in his starting debut this Sunday across the pond against a very capable Vikings D. At best, Gabriel is a low-end QB2 streaming option in superflex fantasy leagues in Week 5.
Carson Wentz, QB, Minnesota Vikings
Earning at least one more start, Minnesota Vikings backup quarterback Carson Wentz carries some low-end Superflex potential this week against the Cleveland Browns. The veteran has a rough draw, however, as he'll be taking on one of the top defensive lines in football with a patchwork offensive line.
Minnesota will play with backup linemen at right tackle, center, and left guard, which isn't ideal for the week in which the Vikings have to deal with Browns superstar defensive end Myles Garrett. In similar circumstances last week, though, Wentz still put up 350 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns.
If the Vikings are going to have any chance to win the game, they'll likely need excellent defense and an effective passing game, the latter of which will ask Wentz to post big passing numbers.
Jordan Addison, WR, Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison is a high-risk, high-reward WR3/Flex option with his team set to take on the Cleveland Browns this week in London.
Playing in his first game of the season last week, Addison erupted for 114 yards receiving, but Minnesota has a tougher task this week with three of their five starting offensive linemen ruled out of the game due to injuries.
Against a Cleveland front allowing the fewest rushing yards per carry in the league, the Vikings will need to lean on their passing game, but will need several backups to hold up against the likes of Cleveland defensive end Myles Garrett, which is looking pretty grim. Addison is a home-run hitter, but the Vikings' injury woes could severely limit their number of offensive snaps.
T.J. Hockenson, TE, Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson is a mid-range TE2 heading into his team's Week 5 meeting against the strong defense of the Cleveland Browns.
The veteran tight end has picked up the pace during the past two weeks, going for 11 targets, nine catches, 88 yards, and a touchdown with backup quarterback Carson Wentz under center, but Minnesota has bigger issues on Sunday. The Vikings have ruled out three of five starters on the offensive line, hampering an offense that was already without starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy (ankle) and running back Aaron Jones (hamstring).
Against a Browns defense with one of the top defensive lines in the game, the Vikings are facing a tall task that could limit the number of opportunities for offensive players like Hockenson.
Quinshon Judkins, RB, Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns could be turning more to rookie running back Quinshon Judkins now that the team has formally made a change at quarterback, according to Zac Jackson of The Athletic.
Cleveland's offense has been one of the very worst in the league, prompting the club to bench quarterback Joe Flacco in favor of rookie Dillon Gabriel for this week's game against Minnesota, which will be played in London. Judkins looks to be a benefactor of the switch, as the Browns likely will look to their running attack to give the first-time starting quarterback some help against a good defensive line.
Judkins has drawn 19 and 25 touches, respectively, during the past two weeks, opening the possibility he's going to get feature-back work as long as he's healthy.
