Stuart Skinner Determined to Improve After Shedding Weight
Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner has dropped 10 pounds during the offseason and is eager to improve his stats from last year. "It's giving me a real opportunity to kick some butt and make sure those numbers are (better)," Skinner told reporters in training camp. The Edmonton-born netminder posted a 26-18-4 record last season with 2.81 goals allowed, a .896 save percentage, and three shutouts. He had a hot stretch during the playoffs, helping the Oilers back to the Stanley Cup Finals for a second consecutive year, but Skinner's save percentage remained at a lowly .889. Skinner admitted that he lost weight for his health and longevity, but he also said that he feels a little quicker. This could make a difference in his numbers this season.
