RotoBaller's PPR wide receiver (WR) fantasy football rankings for drafts in 2025. Use our updated fantasy football WR rankings, tiers from August to crush drafts.

Fantasy football draft season is heating up! At RotoBaller HQ, we have been pumping out updated fantasy football rankings articles for different positions daily to get you prepped. Today we're back with our updated PPR wide receiver (WR) fantasy football rankings -- freshly updated for August 2025 and upcoming drafts. Below, you will find where key wideouts such as Tyreek Hill, George Pickens, Terry McLaurin, Xavier Worthy, Emeka Egbuka, Kyle Williams, and Keon Coleman rank.

There's a lot of value to be had in drafts at the wide receiver position as you approach the middle rounds and later rounds. Rookies are emerging, and some will make immediate impacts. Other players like Rashee Rice are dealing with their own issues and uncertainty, so it may be tricky to decide whether to draft them and when. RotoBaller's lead fantasy football rankings analyst Nick Mariano has been updating these wide receiver rankings all off-season to help answer some of these questions, prioritize the right player, and see which middle-round and later-round WRs are worth targeting in drafts and get a great value.

Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Player Outlooks

Adam Thielen, Carolina Panthers

The Minnesota Vikings have interest in acquiring veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen from the Carolina Panthers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Minnesota's receiving corps is thin to open the season, with Jordan Addison facing a three-game suspension and Jalen Nailor (hand) battling injury.

Thielen spent the first nine years of his career in Minnesota before signing with Carolina prior to the start of the 2023 season. The 35-year-old remained a productive player in 2024, recording 48 catches for 615 yards and five touchdowns across ten games.

If acquired by Minnesota, Thielen would likely be the team's WR2 until Addison returns. His fantasy profile could benefit in the short term from a move to the Vikings, but Thielen's season-long outlook would suffer once Addison pushes him to the WR3 role.

Tre' Harris, Los Angeles Chargers

Los Angeles Chargers rookie wide receiver Tre' Harris (undisclosed) did not participate in team drills during practice on Thursday, according to Daniel Popper of The Athletic. Harris left early from the team's practice on Wednesday with members of the training staff, but his exact ailment is unclear.

A second-round pick out of Ole Miss, Harris has had a solid preseason and could be in line to open the season as the WR3 in Los Angeles. With Quentin Johnson (concussion) also sidelined, the Chargers could be forced to turn to veteran Jalen Reagor or rookie Keandre Lambert-Smith. If Harris' injury does not prove to be serious, he has some appeal as a high-upside late-round target in fantasy.

Josh Downs, Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs (hamstring) was held out of practice again on Thursday, per James Boyd of The Athletic. Downs exited the team's joint practice with the Green Bay Packers last Thursday with a left hamstring injury and has not practiced since. The 24-year-old is one of the better slot and short-area receivers in the NFL, so his presence on the field is crucial for Colts quarterback Daniel Jones.

If Downs were to miss time, it would likely benefit the target volume for wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and rookie tight end Tyler Warren. Assuming Downs' availability for the start of the regular season is not under threat, he profiles as a WR4 with a fairly safe floor, particularly in PPR-scoring formats.

Quentin Johnston, Los Angeles Chargers

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston (concussion), who suffered a scary-looking concussion in the team's second preseason game last Saturday against the Los Angeles Rams, was back at practice on Thursday, according to Kris Rhim of ESPN.com.

While the 23-year-old might not be completely cleared from the league's concussion protocol, the fact that he's back on the field is a good sign that he should gain full clearance to be active for the Week 1 regular-season opener on Friday, Sept. 5, against the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs in Brazil. Johnston should go undrafted in standard 12-team fantasy leagues this fall.

The former 21st overall pick in 2023 out of TCU did improve with a 55-711-8 line in 15 regular-season games (11 starts) in 2024, but he continues to struggle with drops and is fighting for the WR3 role with rookie Tre' Harris behind Ladd McConkey and Keenan Allen.

Romeo Doubs, Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur shut down any rumors of wide receiver Romeo Doubs (back) being cut following training camp. When asked about the potential for Doubs to be cut on the Up & Adams show, the head coach said, "That will not happen." The Packers can't really even afford to cut Doubs if they wanted to heading into the start of the 2025 regular season with how banged up their receivers room is.

Christian Watson (knee) is going to begin the year on the Physically Unable to Perform list and Doubs, Jayden Reed (foot) and Dontayvion Wicks (calf) have also been banged up. Doubs missed some practice time with a back injury but should be good for the Week 1 regular-season opener on Sunday, Sept. 7, against the division-rival Detroit Lions. The 25-year-old Doubs should be on the roster, but he's probably going to need Reed to miss time to be a realistic flex option in 12-team fantasy leagues.

Travis Hunter, Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie two-way star Travis Hunter (upper body) was held out of Thursday's joint practice with the Miami Dolphins due to an upper-body injury, and he will not play in the team's preseason finale on Saturday night against Miami, according to Michael DiRocco of ESPN.

The Jaguars considered having Hunter practice, but they took the precautionary route since they don't want him to aggravate the injury that has kept the Heisman Trophy winner out of the team's three previous practices and the second preseason game. The 22-year-old second overall pick out of Colorado suffered the injury in the team's scrimmage on Aug. 14.

Although he hasn't been practicing with the rest of the team, he took part in individual drills on Tuesday and Wednesday, suggesting he should be just fine for the Week 1 regular-season opener on Sunday, Sept. 7, versus the Carolina Panthers.
