Week 20 Fantasy Baseball Hitter Streamers

I'll recommend only players who are 40 percent rostered or lower, and all roster percentages are from Yahoo!

Lenyn Sosa, 1B/2B/3B - CWS (32% rostered)

Is Sosa an anomaly, or has he finally figured out how to hit consistently at the big league level? That's a question that probably hasn't been answered yet entirely, but for now, I think we have to acknowledge that it's quite possible that he's "arrived" and that he deserves to be rostered in standard leagues.

Sosa continued his home run barrage this week with two more dingers, and most importantly, he hit in the two-hole every game and even led off last night against Cleveland. A lineup spot at the top of the order is a significant improvement over where he had been hitting (between sixth and eighth) for most of the season. I'm okay riding the hot bat here, and Sosa's multi-position eligibility makes him a pretty valuable asset, too.

Matt Shaw, 2B/3B/SS - CWS (32% rostered)

Shaw was a big pickup a few weeks ago, but like many rookies, he followed up his red-hot start to the second half with a very slow week, and managers had little patience for it, dropping him from standard league rosters.

Well, he's doing it again! Shaw has two home runs in his last three games. He's likely going to be inconsistent and sit against lefties, so I understand why he's not more universally rostered. But I still think there are a lot of tools here that are appealing for fantasy, including some sneaky speed (14 steals). I'm not giving up on him just yet.

Ernie Clement, 1B/2B/3B/SS - TOR (31% rostered)

Clement now has eligibility at every infield position! He's the ultimate utility player, and his ability to produce at the plate has forced the Jays to keep him in the lineup on an everyday basis this season.

He's scored 13 runs over the last 14 days and continues to pile up hits, raising his average to .289 on the season. He's even flashed some power lately with two home runs in his last three games. He has plenty of fantasy value, especially if you need production in runs and batting average.

Jakob Marsee, OF - MIA (23% rostered)

If you didn't know who Marsee was before today, I'm not going to judge. He was not someone on my radar this season as a 24-year-old minor leaguer who owned just a .239 average in four minor league seasons.

However, Marsee has taken the major leagues by storm since being called up on August 1st. He's hitting .448 with a home run and five stolen bases. He's collected at least one hit in all but one of his first ten games.

He's probably not going to be able to sustain this torrid pace, but he is showing off an impressive hit tool and some solid baserunning skills. He has an everyday job locked down with Jesus Sanchez in Houston, so why not give him a shot if you need an outfielder who can hit for average, score runs, and swipe some bags?

Isaac Collins, OF - MIL (21% rostered)

Collins has quickly risen up the rankings with some of the most consistent play of any outfielder in the National League over the last month. He was named NL Rookie of the Month for July, and he's well on his way to repeating in August, as he's scored six runs and driven in another nine runs so far.

Collins now has seven home runs and 13 stolen bases in just 263 at-bats this season. He's a legit dual-threat, and he also happens to be a switch-hitter, which has allowed him to stay in the lineup every day.

The Brewers have been unstoppable for the last month, and Collins has been a big part of that success. He's worked his way up in the batting order, too, hitting second or third in his last three games. I'm not sure what everyone is waiting for. This kid is legit and should be on rosters in 10 and 12-team leagues. I expect he will command some big FAAB bids tonight, and if you have the money, I'd be as aggressive as you can be to try to get him on your roster.

Trent Grisham, OF - NYY (20% rostered)

He's leading off again for the Yankees against righties and has flashed some power, clubbing four home runs in his last eight games. We've seen him do that before and then totally disappear, but I'm okay giving him a shot if you need help in the outfield.

Spencer Horwitz, 1B - PIT (17% rostered)

Adding Horwitz this season in exchange for Luis L. Ortiz feels like the one trade that Pittsburgh won. Horwitz has been very solid as the leadoff man against righties, flexing his hit tool and on-base skills. He's never going to be a big-time power-hitter, but if you like first basemen who can hit for average and get on base (similar to Nolan Schanuel), then he could be the guy for you!

Ryan Jeffers, C - MIN (17% rostered)

The Twins are no longer contenders this year, but Jeffers's bat has perked up lately as he's riding a 10-game hitting streak. He has multiple hits in four straight games, including three in each of his last two. Unlike a lot of catchers, Jeffers can hit for average, and he also hits in the top third of the order, where he should have plenty of RBI opportunities.

Jake Cronenworth, 1B/2B - SDP (15% rostered)

I've long been a fan of Cronenworth as a hitter. He is probably a better "real life" player than a fantasy asset, but he can give you some first-baseman production in terms of home runs and RBIs while also having second-base eligibility.

He hits in the bottom-third of the order, but he's been quite solid lately with seven runs scored and seven RBI over the last two weeks.

Matt Wallner, OF - MIN (12% rostered) 

Don't be fooled by the NA next to Wallner's name; he's simply on paternity leave and should return to the lineup in a few days. He's been scorching hot over the last two weeks with five home runs, seven RBI, and nine runs scored.

Wallner was a player many of us were expecting big things from this season, but he battled injuries for a big part of the season. He's healthy again and has been working on his swing with the hitting coach. The results so far in August have been impressive, and if he can keep it going, this is a player who could help you win your league. Add him in all formats!
