Grant Holmes Headed to 15-Day Injured List With Elbow Tightness
Grant Holmes (elbow) on the 15-day injured list with elbow tightness, manager Brian Snitker announced. Holmes started the Braves' 6-5 loss to the Texas Rangers on Saturday and left after surrendering four earned runs on six hits with 2:2 K:BB in four innings. Despite a 4-9 record, the 29-year-old has recorded decent production this season. Holmes has pitched to a 3.99 ERA with an impressive 123 strikeouts (against 54 walks) and a 1.34 WHIP over 115 frames. He'll now join fellow Braves starters Chris Sale, Spencer Schwellenbach, AJ Smith-Shawver, and Reynaldo Lopez on the IL. It's unclear how the injury-ravaged Braves plan to replace Holmes.
