Alejandro Kirk Being Evaluated for Concussion
Alejandro Kirk is being evaluated for a concussion, manager John Schneider said after the team's 6-1 win over the Detroit Tigers on Saturday. Kirk took a foul ball off the mask in the second inning and stayed in until the Blue Jays replaced him with Tyler Heineman in the fourth. The 26-year-old Kirk has been a key piece for a Toronto team that surprisingly boasts the best record in the majors. He earned his second All-Star nod this season and has slashed .304/.361/.413 with seven homers, 47 RBI, 27 runs scored, and a minuscule 9.8% strikeout rate in 346 plate appearances. If he has to miss time, the Jays would plug in Heineman, a 34-year-old journeyman who has been shockingly productive in 2025. Heineman has hit .330/.394/.495 with three homers, 16 RBI, 19 runs, and two stolen bases over 106 trips to the plate.
