Matthew Stafford Limited in Camp Due to Back Soreness
Matthew Stafford (back) will be "held out of most workouts" due to back soreness, according to Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times. Klein writes that Rams head coach Sean McVay is confident that Stafford will be ready for the season, but this is still a worrying sign for the 37-year-old quarterback. Stafford has played through myriad injuries throughout his career, but the back has been a recurring issue. He managed to play 16 games in 2024, completing 65.8% of his passes for 3,762 yards and 20 touchdowns. Los Angeles has a competent backup to Stafford in veteran Jimmy Garoppolo. Nevertheless, an absence for Stafford would hurt the outlook for Rams receivers Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. Stafford himself is a low-end QB2 option who offers zero upside as a rusher.
