Dodgers Interested in Several Notable Relievers
Jhoan Duran and Griffin Jax (Minnesota Twins), Felix Bautista (Baltimore Orioles), Ryan Helsley (St. Louis Cardinals), Emmanuel Clase (Cleveland Guardians), and David Bednar (Pittsburgh Pirates). Some of those hurlers are far less likely to move than others, and it's possible none will change teams this summer. Aside from Helsley, who will be a free agent over the winter, each pitcher listed above is under team control beyond this season. Jax is the lone non-closer of the bunch, but that's only because Duran is blocking him. The Dodgers expected elite closer production from Tanner Scott after signing him to a four-year, $72 million contract in free agency. The 30-year-old southpaw has instead blown a league-worst seven of his 26 save opportunities while struggling to keep the ball in the yard and logging an unspectacular 4.00 ERA in 45 innings. Scott remains the Dodgers' closer, but that could change if the club makes a splashy trade for a high-leverage reliever before the end of the month.
