J.T. Realmuto Gets Sunday Off
J.T. Realmuto will hit the bench for his team's game on Sunday afternoon against the Los Angeles Angels. It's an afternoon game following a night game, so this is likely just a planned day off for the veteran backstop. Rafael Marchan will take his place behind the plate and bat eighth. In 332 plate appearances so far this season, Realmuto has slashed .270/.325/.384 with five home runs, 32 RBI, 36 runs scored, and five stolen bases. The 34-year-old remains a solid source of batting average and speed (relative to other catchers), but his power output has fallen significantly from his peak. Realmuto's .114 ISO is his lowest since a 30-plate appearance sample size in 2014, his first year in the big leagues.
