Josh Jung Sent to Triple-A
Josh Jung to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday and activated infielder Jake Burger (oblique) from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Jung, the former eighth overall pick in 2019 out of Texas Tech, has managed to stay healthy in 2025 but has floundered at the plate in 75 games. The 27-year-old right-handed slugger is currently slashing .237/.283/.366 with a career-worst .648 OPS with eight home runs, 35 RBI, 25 runs, four steals and 73 strikeouts in 297 plate appearances. Jung was even worse in June, slashing .158/.208/.221. His numbers under the hood don't bring much optimism, as he's in the 37th percentile in xwOBA, 34th percentile in strikeout rate, 11th percentile in chase rate and 48th percentile in hard-hit rate. Josh Smith should see most of the playing time at the hot corner in Texas until Jung returns in the second half.
