NBA Free Agency analyst Thunder Dan Palyo gives you the best available free agents available during the NBA Free Agency moratorium. These 2025 NBA free agents are projected to change teams and have a fantasy basketball impact.
We are entering the third day of the NBA free agency moratorium, and we've already seen quite a bit of player movement with deals being struck and even some trades being made within the first 48 hours.
Teams can continue to negotiate with free agents the rest of this week, and then players are officially able to sign those new deals next Monday.
While there are still plenty of players yet to sign, many of the biggest "shoes to drop" have already done so. Let's take a quick look at some of the most impactful signings and moves from this week and get into some of the fantasy basketball fallout that will result.

Teams That Made a Big Splash
Atlanta Hawks
Key Additions: Kristaps Porzingis, Luke Kennard, Nickeil Alexander-Walker
The Hawks smell blood in the water in the Eastern Conference and are loading up for a deep playoff run. They let players such as Clint Capela, Caris LeVert, Georges Niang, Larry Nance Jr., and Terance Mann all walk, but they have made some interesting moves that could upgrade their starting lineup and second unit.
Porzingis at center is going to give this team an entirely different look and will stretch the floor in a way that Onyeka Okongwu and Capela couldn't. He likely starts at center, and the return of Jalen Johnson at power forward bumps Okongwu back to the bench.

NAW and Kennard are both heading for bench roles and won't have much fantasy value. But both are quality NBA players who bring shot-making and play-making to the second unit.
Fantasy Impact: Okongwu is the big loser as he started the second half of the year and is now probably heading back to a 25-minute role. Trae Young could see his assists rise even further as he's going to be surrounded by shot-makers and elite pick-and-roll partners. Porzingis' value remains about the same; he just needs to stay healthy (as always).
Denver Nuggets
Key Additions: Bruce Brown, Cameron Johnson, Jonas Valanciunas, Tim Hardaway Jr.
I love what Denver has done so far this offseason! They upgraded their wing slot with Cam Johnson over Michael Porter Jr., while adding quality veterans to their second unit with Brown, Jo-Val, and THJ.
Fantasy Impact: Johnson may see a dip in scoring, but he could also see a boost in efficiency playing with Jokic. I like his game for roto leagues a lot. The other guys will all be backups who likely won't have much fantasy value without an injury to someone in the starting lineup.
Detroit Pistons
Key Additions: Caris LeVert, Duncan Robinson
LeVert has established himself as one of the better sixth-man combo guards in the league. He will bring some solid scoring, playmaking, and defense to this young Detroit team, while Duncan Robinson provides some lights-out shooting from behind the arc and will likely replace Malik Beasley, who is mired in a sports betting scandal.
Fantasy Impact: LeVert will likely be a fringe player in standard leagues and maybe someone to stream at times throughout the season. Robinson won't get enough minutes to be rosterable given that he's a one-dimensional player.
Houston Rockets
Key Additions: Clint Capela, Kevin Durant, Dorian Finney-Smith
Houston looks very much like a serious contender in the West after acquiring KD in a trade before the draft. Since then, they signed Capela to back up Alperen Sengun at center and DFS to give them some minutes on the wing. Both veterans are solid players, and the Houston depth chart now goes nearly three deep at every position. They are loaded.

Fantasy Impact: Houston will be a really interesting team to watch early in the season. How will the shots get divided up between Durant, Sengun, Amen Thompson, and others on the first unit? Which players on the second unit get enough run to be fantasy viable (Tari Eason, Finney-Smith, etc)? There are more questions than answers right now.
Milwaukee Bucks
Key Additions: Myles Turner, Gary Harris, Vasilije Micic
I'm kind of blown away by what the Bucks have done here. They are going to pay 22 million dollars a year of dead cap money to buy out Damian Lillard and have decided that signing Myles Turner was the move they wanted to make to try to satisfy Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, it was reported that Giannis was upset about Lillard being cut, and aside from Turner, the Bucks have not brought in any significant difference-makers.
Myles Turner is essentially costing the Bucks $50M a season if you include his deal + cost of releasing Dame.

Bobby Portis resigned with Milwaukee, and his outlook was trending up before the Turner trade. Can the Bucks play them both on the floor together with Giannis at the three?
Fantasy Impact: Turner's stats aren't likely to change much, and neither are Portis's unless they can coexist on the floor together. There are about five or six guards who could emerge with value for Milwaukee, with Kevin Porter Jr. being the guy with the most upside.
New York Knicks
Key Additions: Jordan Clarkson, Guerschon Yabusele
It might sound silly to call the additions of Clarkson and Yabusele a "big splash," but both are quality NBA players who have been starters in the league. The Knicks didn't need to add much, but they badly needed another guard who can score off the bench, while Yabusele gives them another quality big man who can do a little of everything.
Fantasy Impact: We don't even know who the Knicks' coach is yet, so it's hard to even project minutes for these guys. Clarkson has some deep league appeal if he can carve out a 20 to 24-minute role.
Other Notable Player Movement
Luka Garza - Boston Celtics
Garza barely played in Minnesota but has career per-36 numbers of 22 points, nine rebounds, and 1.8 threes. With Boston set for a rebuilding year, we may see Garza get a chance to win at least a timeshare at the center position.
Michael Porter Jr. - Brooklyn Nets
Poor MPJ, he goes from a championship contender to the worst team in the league. I think it's going to hurt his fantasy value, too, as he's likely to be less efficient and could easily be a shutdown candidate late in the season when Brooklyn starts to tank. The Nets ran some maddening rotations last season, too, so there's a chance he plays like 28 to 30 minutes a night as Brooklyn attempts to develop all their young players.
Collin Sexton - Charlotte Hornets
I love what Charlotte has done this offseason in the draft, and adding Sexton as some instant offense off the bench is another solid move. His fantasy value won't be all that great unless LaMelo Ball misses time (again), but he'll likely do enough to warrant being drafted in standard leagues.
Lonzo Ball and Larry Nance Jr. - Cleveland Cavaliers
Two former Lakers head to Cleveland, Ball through a trade, and Nance as a free agent. Ball's role could be substantial while Darius Garland is out, but Nance may struggle to be fantasy viable unless he can carve out 20 minutes backing up the center and power forward positions. Both are excellent moves in real life for the Cavs, who have their sights set on getting back to the playoffs and making another run at the NBA Finals.
D'Angelo Russell - Dallas Mavericks
D-Lo will likely start at point guard in Dallas while Kyrie Irving heals and walks into a very solid situation there. He could flirt with top-100 value and could end up being a sneaky target late in drafts.
Brook Lopez - L.A. Clippers
Bro-Lo heads to L.A. to be Ivica Zubac's backup. He's not likely going to play enough to warrant consideration in standard leagues for fantasy, but will provide some nice depth for the Clippers.
Ty Jerome - Memphis Grizzlies
Jerome was awesome for the Cavs last year, but now heads to Memphis, where he has to compete for touches with Scotty Pippen Jr. on the second unit. It feels like a downgrade for fantasy purposes, though Ja Morant has struggled to stay healthy, too.
Desmond Bane and Tyus Jones - Orlando Magic
I am on record as being a big fan of the Bane trade, and I think he will be terrific in both real life and fantasy leagues in Orlando. Jones is going to solidify their second unit and probably won't have much fantasy value without an injury to Jalen Suggs.
Dennis Schroder - Sacramento Kings
Schroder is on his 10th NBA team, I believe, and will be a backup in Sacramento. We know he can score and provide some assists, but his path to playing time could be difficult with the Kings. He's not someone we should target in drafts this season.
