Spencer Jones Named Eastern League Player of the Week
New York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones was named Eastern League Player of the Week for his performance last week at Double-A Somerset. The Yankees' second-ranked prospect went 10-for-21 (.476) with a double, three home runs, eight RBI, six runs scored, two steals, and a 7:6 BB:K over six games for the Patriots. The surge helped push his season-long slash line to .272/.395/.599 with 15 home runs and 10 stolen bases over 46 games. The 33.3 percent strikeout rate is a concern, however, the power and a phenomenal 16.4 percent walk rate help offset it. It's even an improvement over the 36.8 percent strikeout rate from 2024, and now with 185 games at Double-A under his belt, a jump to Triple-A should be on the horizon. If the 6-foot-7 slugger can show progress in regards to the K% over the remainder of the season, a late-season MLB debut could even be in the cards.
