Spencer Jones Named Eastern League Player of the Week
Spencer Jones was named Eastern League Player of the Week for his performance last week at Double-A Somerset. The Yankees' second-ranked prospect went 10-for-21 (.476) with a double, three home runs, eight RBI, six runs scored, two steals, and a 7:6 BB:K over six games for the Patriots. The surge helped push his season-long slash line to .272/.395/.599 with 15 home runs and 10 stolen bases over 46 games. The 33.3 percent strikeout rate is a concern, however, the power and a phenomenal 16.4 percent walk rate help offset it. It's even an improvement over the 36.8 percent strikeout rate from 2024, and now with 185 games at Double-A under his belt, a jump to Triple-A should be on the horizon. If the 6-foot-7 slugger can show progress in regards to the K% over the remainder of the season, a late-season MLB debut could even be in the cards.
