Mitch Garver Cracks Two Homers, Drives in Five
Mitch Garver had a monster game on Friday, smacking two homers and driving in five in a 9-4 win over the Chicago Cubs. Garver belted a two-run homer in the sixth inning, then one-upped himself with a three-run shot in the ninth that put the game out of reach. It simply seems unfair that the Mariners had four home runs from their catchers in this one, with Garver and Cal Raleigh both blasting a pair. Unlike the latter, Garver has struggled this season, hitting just .216 with 12 runs, three homers, 16 RBI, and three steals in 116 at-bats. He has begun to sit out a lot in June, so he will need more games like this in order to earn playing time. It was a great performance, but this game doesn't mean anything for fantasy, and Garver remains a non-option.
