Adley Rutschman Back in Action on Wednesday
Adley Rutschman (head) is back in the starting lineup for Wednesday's contest against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals and right-hander Miles Mikolas, serving as the designated hitter and batting out of the two-hole. Rutschman took a foul tip off his mask on Sunday and was removed as a precaution before sitting out the first two games of the series against St. Louis on Monday and Tuesday. Maverick Handley will make another start behind the dish on Wednesday and hit eighth. Rutschman will look to get going at the plate in his return after starting the year with just a .211/.310/.349 slash line in his 175 at-bats. He's been even worse in May, going 15-for-76 (.197) with a homer, five doubles, a triple, six RBI, eight runs scored, eight walks and 14 strikeouts in 22 games played. Rutschman has never faced Mikolas in his career.
