Carlos Rodon Throws Six Shutout Innings, Fans Eight in Win Over Rangers
Carlos Rodon had a strong outing in Thursday's 1-0 victory over the visiting Texas Rangers in the Bronx, throwing six scoreless innings on two hits allowed, two walks and eight strikeouts for his sixth win of the season. Rodon led the Yankees to their third series sweep of the year and lowered his season ERA to 2.88 with the strong outing in the series finale. The 32-year-old veteran southpaw was 1-3 with a 5.48 ERA in his first four starts of the year, but since then he's been dominant, going 5-0 with a 1.47 ERA in his last seven outings. He used 38 sliders and 37 four-seam fastballs while throwing in 21 changeups and nine curveballs. Rodon is in midseason form at the moment and has allowed one or fewer runs in three of his last four starts. After a rough first year in pinstripes in 2023, Rodon appears to be settling in two years later.
