Romy Gonzalez Resting On Tuesday
Romy Gonzalez will take a seat on Tuesday against the visiting Texas Rangers at Fenway Park. Abraham Toro is getting the start at first base and will hit seventh against Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi. It appears to just be a normal breather for Gonzalez, who has become Boston's primary option at first base in the wake of Triston Casas' serious knee injury. The 28-year-old doesn't have any home runs on the season yet, but he's swung the bat well otherwise by going 16-for-49 (.327) in limited at-bats with six RBI, three stolen bases and 10 runs scored. The former 18th-round pick by the Chicago White Sox in 2018 out of the University of Miami should at least be rostered in AL-only leagues. Toro will be making his first start of 2025 and should be avoided for DFS lineups. The Canadian switch-hitter has gone hitless in five career at-bats against Eovaldi.
