Austin Cindric got the car going at the right time on Saturday and came up just short of taking the pole at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Cindric and his Team Penske car settled for third, a mere 0.042 seconds off of Joey Logano's pole position lap. For a time, Cindric looked like he might have a shot but lost a little speed late in his lap. Nonetheless, it is a great start for the No. 2 car. Cindric did finish sixth last year and was in the top five very late in the race. He had some bad luck at Daytona but did end up fourth at Atlanta just missing out on that extraordinary three-wide ending. Cindric has the potential to be among the top ten again Sunday.--Chris Wassel - RotoBaller
