The Kansas City Chiefs picked up the option on All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones' contract on Friday, according to sources, retaining the right to franchise tag him while paying him $4.25 million that he earned in incentives in 2023. Jones was already due the money, and if he's not franchise-tagged in 2024, he'll become a free agent. The goal for the Chiefs is still to sign Jones to a long-term contract to keep the star pass-rusher with the team as they look to continue their dynasty after back-to-back Super Bowl championships. If Jones plays the 2024 season on the franchise tag, it will cost the Chiefs $19.75 million. Either way, Jones is in line for a massive payday with 75.5 career sacks. He has been a first-team All-Pro each of the last two years and a Pro Bowler the last five seasons.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
