The Toronto Blue Jays, Pittsburgh Pirates, Houston Astros and New York Yankees are still in the bidding for Cuban right-handed free-agent Yariel Rodriguez, according to sources. The teams in the running aren't expected to make a decision on the 26-year-old until Japanese right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto chooses his team, though. Rodriguez formally became a free agent in early November. The hard-throwing right-hander profiles as a better reliever in the United States, but his role might depend on where he ultimately lands. He was dominant for the Chunichi Dragons in Japan back in 2022, but he did not pitch at all professionally in 2023, which will cast more doubt on his actual fantasy value in the big leagues in 2024.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
