ANALYSIS: Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth"}" data-sheets-userformat="{"2":4227,"3":{"1":0},"4":{"1":2,"2":15724527},"10":2,"15":"Arial"}">Pat Freiermuth is coming off of his best game of the 2023 season, catching nine of his 11 targets for 120 yards in Sunday's win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Freiermuth, who missed five games earlier this year due to injury, hadn't had more than three receptions or 41 receiving yards in any game this year, so it's unclear if this was a one-time thing or not.
But with the tight end position being so thin, fantasy managers shouldn't wait around to see if Freiermuth has another game like this before adding him. He's worth putting a waiver claim in on right now in 12-team leagues because if Freiermuth is going to start seeing double-digit targets, he's someone you'll want on your team.
Sure, it's risky to grab someone who, in his third NFL season, just had his first 100-yard game and third double-digit target game, but the upside is too immense to ignore. Unless you have a top-five player at tight end already on your roster, Freiermuth is worth grabbing off the waiver wire ahead of the team's Week 13 meeting with the Arizona Cardinals.
