The New York Mets are hiring David Stearns as their new president of baseball operations, according to sources familiar with the situation. Stearns is a monumental addition to the organization, and the 38-year-old will take over officially at the end of the 2023 season. He has been the architect of multiple National League Central titles for the Milwaukee Brewers and was long rumored to take over the Mets after stepping down as the Brewers' president after last year. Stearns will officially begin his five-year deal in October. He's a New York native who grew up as a Mets fan, and he'll have seemingly limitless resources of owner Steve Cohen to make the team better in Queens. Billy Eppler will remain as general manager and serve as the No. 2 to Stearns.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
