Jaxon Smith-Njigba Gets Five Targets In NFL Debut

Rookie wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba made his regular-season debut for the Seattle Seahawks in their Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The twentieth overall pick from the 2023 draft was less than three weeks removed from surgery to repair the broken wrist he suffered in a preseason game on August 19. Smith-Njigba wore a thick wrap over his left wrist on Sunday and was able to bring in three of his five targets for 13 receiving yards. With established veterans DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett working ahead of him, it will be hard to start Smith-Njigba until a better picture of how Seattle plans to spread the ball takes shape. The Seahawks visit the Detroit Lions in Week 2.
