Defenseman Tony DeAngelo is set to become an unrestricted free agent after being placed on unconditional waivers by the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday for the purpose of buying out the final season of his contract. The 27-year-old had one season remaining on a two-year, $10 million contract. DeAngelo joined Philadelphia just 12 months ago when he was acquired from Carolina, and he had a decent campaign with the team, posting 42 points in 70 outings, but the offensively-gifted blue-liner finished the season as a healthy scratch. He has been linked with a trade back to Carolina, and the Hurricanes can add him now as a free agent if they are still interested in his services.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
