Chase Briscoe overcame several pains at Talladega to extend his top-five streak to three races. Briscoe had surgery on his broken finger earlier this week, and he was in pain throughout the race. He said that hardware was inserted into his finger to help with the healing process, but the pain only increased during Sunday's race. Another painful point came early in Stage 1, as Briscoe spun while getting onto pit road, forcing the No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford to fall two laps down. Amidst all the pain, he was able to overcome and pick his way through the field by avoiding the chaos. After two overtime finishes, he managed his best finish of the season in fourth.--Eric DeWilde
