Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson (face) will miss a fourth consecutive game Tuesday against the Sabres and could be out for multiple months. He was involved in a scary incident right before the holiday break when Carlson took a shot to the face in a game against Winnipeg. The two-time All-Star has exited the lineup boasting 21 points through 30 games this season. Carlson's absence is a major blow for Washington, but Erik Gustafsson had so far admirably filled in for him and enters Tuesday's action holding a seven-game point streak, which includes four multi-point efforts. Trevor van Riemsdyk has also been handed a bigger role, including a spot on the second power-play unit.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
