NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 11/1/22

Hopefully, everyone had a wonderful Halloween last night and nobody is still on a candy high. Tonight will take great focus and there is only one team playing on a back-to-back, Washington. The currently live top-3 highest implied team totals are: Florida with 4.2, Minnesota with 4.1 and Tampa Bay with 3.9 goals. I will do my best in guiding you through this twelve-game slate on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 7:00 p.m. EST.

Vegas Odds for the Day

NHL DFS Goalies

Ilya Sorokin- DK $8.1K || FD $8.3K

Opponent - Blackhawks

Tonight is a little iffy for many goaltenders whether they will have decent enough performances to warrant their salary. At least Sorokin has a good matchup though. He will play the Blackhawks in Chicago who currently sports the second-worst goals for per 60 – 25.74 – and the fourth-worst scoring chances for per 60 – 22.45 –. Sorokin is also the fourth-best goalie in goals saved above expected per 60 – 1.072 – when playing 3 or more games. The netminder has stymied the New York Rangers – 3-0 win – and the Carolina Hurricanes – 6-2 – win in his last two performances. Being able to keep top offenses to 2 or less goals is a feat in itself and Sorokin should have no problem doing the same to a lesser offense tonight.

Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Lindgren (DK $7.6K || FD $7.9K), Hart (DK $7.1K || FD $8.4K)

Centers

Aleksander Barkov-DK $6.7K || FD $7.8K

Opponent - Arizona Coyotes

With what will most likely be a chalky game, Barkov has seen a massive decrease in salary and it will garner mass amounts of ownership going against the Coyotes tonight. The top line pivot is finally starting to catch form with 1 goal, 3 assists, 12 shots and 2 blocked shots over his last 2 appearances, after only assisting 4 goals, taking 20 shots and blocking 3 shots in his previous 7 appearances. The Coyotes are the second-worst team in the league in goals against per 60 – 4.37 –, shots against per 60 – 36.58 – and scoring chances against per 60 – 37.96 –. Meanwhile, the Panthers are the second-best team in shot for per 60 – 39.07 – and the best team in scoring chances for per 60 – 40.73 –. Despite Barkov’s poor form to start the season it was only a matter of time until he finally caught fire. Now it is a matter of time until his salary starts to spike.

Trevor Zegras- DK $5.1K || FD $6.5K

Opponent - San Jose Sharks

This matchup may go under-looked due to the number of teams on the slate and how poorly both the Ducks and the Sharks have played. However, this is a prime spot for the Ducks in what will be a pure offense matchup in San Jose. The Ducks are the second-worst team in the league in both scoring chances for per 60 – 25.61 – and goals for per 60 – 2.19 –. Despite these numbers, Zegras still has 6 goals, 1 assist, 20 shots and 1 blocked shot on the season. Add to the fact that Kahkonen is the fifth-worst goalie in goals saved above expected per 60 – -1.1 – and this is the perfect spot for an affordable center with high potential.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Hughes (DK $6.4K || FD $7.3K), Gaudreau (DK $3.3K || FD $4.6K) ** Gaudreau is listed as W on FanDuel **

NHL DFS Wings

Wings

Jesper Bratt- DK $5.8K || FD $9.4K

Opponent - Vancouver Canucks

Halloween has ended and the Season of Bratt has begun. The winger was highlighted at the weekend for the same production and he has not disappointed since, scoring another goal, assisting 2 goals and taking 6 shots. On the season through 9 appearances, he has 4 goals, 11 assists and 27 shots. Ever since his move to the second line with center Jack Hughes, Bratt’s potential has skyrocketed and he is running away with the chance to stay in the top six.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins- DK $5.7K || FD $7.9K

Opponent - Edmonton Oilers

Is it true? Is it really happening? Are we finally seeing the production that Nugent-Hopkins was drafted 1st overall for? Or are we just seeing a product of playing with Connor McDavid? Either way, Nugent-Hopkins is on pace to set career highs in virtually every category if he continues this production. The center-converted winger in 9 games has 5 goals, 6 assists, 28 shots and 5 blocked shots. Nugent-Hopkins has never finished at a point-per-game pace in 11 seasons! The Predators are not the ideal candidate to attack on a 12-game slate, but playing with McDavid almost guarantees you points.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Tkachuk (DK $8K || FD $10.2K), Rust (DK $6.5K || FD $6.7K)

NHL DFS Defensemen

Jake McCabe- DK $3.8K || FD $4K

Opponent - New York Islanders

McCabe has recently been promoted to the top pairing and the defenseman has not looked back. In one game so far in the new role, the defenseman has 2 goals, 2 shots and 2 blocked shots. Those are solid numbers, especially peripherals for someone that has never held a top pairing role in his career. He will have another shot at racking up the shots and blocked shots in a fast-paced matchup with the Islanders.

Brandon Montour- DK $5.7K || FD $5.5K

Opponent - Arizona Coyotes

Montour is picking up steam again and it is critical that we get a few pieces of the Panthers pie tonight. The defenseman in his last five games has 2 goals, 5 assists, 16 shots and 5 blocked shots. He also just had a massive performance against Ottawa’s weak defense where he scored once, assisted twice and took 6 shots in a 5-3 win. We are very lucky that his salary is where it is right now and there is not much time before it spikes.

Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Orlov (DK $3.8K || FD $4.4K), Lundkvist (DK $3.7K || FD $4K)
