DraftKings CFB DFS Lineup Picks: Week 2 Daily College Fantasy Football - Saturday Prime Time (9/17/22)

Mike's DraftKings daily fantasy college football lineup picks for the Saturday Prime Time Week 3 (9/17/22) slate. His CFB DFS lineup picks and DFS sleepers will help you win.

The fun doesn't end with the main slate! It never does, right? We have a beautiful selection of games on this slate, including a personal favorite: UTSA in Austin playing Texas. Texas Tech heading to Raleigh is impressive as well. The Spartans a road dog to unranked Washington? Oh yeah! I want some of that one!

The undercard isn't much of an undercard at all. Ohio State gets a tune up with Toledo. Same for Florida against South Florida. Pitt heads to Kalamazoo to take on a team that beat them last year. Oh, and they may be down not one, but two quarterbacks. Yikes! SMU and Maryland is going to be a race just like at Pimlico Downs. We close this out with Miami heading to College Station in what some are calling a must-win for Jimbo Fisher. They're wrong, by the way.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 9/17/22 locking at 7 pm eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions for players at quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, aiming to highlight one option at the high, middle, and lower end of the salary scale. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks

Taulia Tagovailoa, Maryland ($8,500)

There's really only one reason that I'm going with Taulia over Stroud. It's because this game is going to remain competitive. Stroud is going to put up big numbers again, but his upside is capped. There's no cap on this for Taulia. SMU can and will keep up with the Terps. They don't call them Mustangs for nothing! Maryland attacked Charlotte through the air and I'm thinking they'll do the same against SMU. Another 40+ point fantasy day is very likely.

Tanner Mordecai, SMU ($8,000)

Mordecai already has seven touchdown passes in two games. I doubt this Maryland defense slows him down. After all, they allowed 21 points to a Charlotte team that has been stuck in neutral at their best and in reverse all other times. I trust his numbers against North Texas more than the Lamar game where the Ponies just showed up to prove they still had a team. This is going to be a close, and high scoring, game. Both quarterbacks could be optimal in this one.

Frank Harris, UTSA ($5,700)

Harris has had two big games against two solid teams in Army and Houston. Texas has a better defense than both, but Harris is also priced at a bargain to compensate for that. It may be overcompensation. I still think Harris at least flirts with 300 passing yards. The difference between Bama and the Roadrunners is that Harris and his top two receivers have been playing together for 3+ years now. This UTSA offense isn't going to make a lot of mistakes. Harris has a safe floor and solid upside for this price range.

Also consider: C.J. Stroud, Ohio State ($9,500); Devin Leary, North Carolina State ($7,000); Dequan Finn, Toledo ($5,100)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs

Bijan Robinson, Texas ($6,500)

I'm not paying a giant premium for TreVeyon Henderson in what will be another blowout. He'll get a dozen touches if we're lucky. Here we have a great back in Robinson who is without his starting quarterback playing against as veteran of a team as you'll find in college football today. The Horns are going to have to lean heavily on Robinson in a game that I think stays close throughout. This feels like a really cheap price for a talent like Robinson, especially in what should be a positive game script.

Israel Abanikanda, Pittsburgh ($5,800)

I would guess that whomever is behind center for Pitt this week is going to be somewhere less than 100% healthy. I still don't think they go to Nate Yarnell unless they have no choice. Even if they do, Izzy is going to see a lot of carries this week. Rodney Hammond is still listed as "doubtful," so it feels safe to go with Abanikanda. He carried 25 times for 154 yards against the Vols. That's a great return for this price range. He should have no trouble hitting those totals if the touches are there against the Broncos.

Trevor Etienne, Florida ($3,900)

Etienne, the younger brother of Jacksonville Jaguar Travis, isn't the starter. However, he has made the most of his touches so far this season. Etienne was Florida's most successful runner against Kentucky last week, scoring a touchdown and averaging five yards a carry. Etienne feels like he's carving out a larger role in this offense by the week. A tune-up against South Florida could mean more carries for Etienne, making him a nice value play in GPP formats.

Also consider: Devon Achane, Texas A&M ($6,200); Jalen Berger, Michigan State ($5,900); Tahj Brooks, Texas Tech ($5,600); Jarek Broussard, Michigan State ($4,200)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers

Rashee Rice, SMU ($8,400)

Like Courtland Sutton before him, Rice is a massive target hog for the Mustangs. He already has 17 receptions in two games for 298 yards and three scores. Keep in mind that those were games that the Mustangs won by 38 and 29 points. In what should be a closer game against Maryland, Rice has a massive ceiling. He might be my favorite play on the entire slate.

Zakhari Franklin, UTSA ($6,300)

Franklin has topped the century mark in both games so far this season. He and Frank Harris have played together for four years now. You can't overstate how important that is when playing a team like Texas. If UTSA hangs around like I think they will, Harris and Franklin are both going to have good days for their respective prices. When Harris is in trouble, he's looking for Franklin.

Jeshaun Jones, Maryland ($4,900)

The Terps have a whole lot of mouths to feed on this offense. It feels like Jarrett and Demus are more well known and carry that higher price tag, but Jones has been the guy leading the team in receptions. That could change at any moment, but you can see opposing teams trying to make Maryland use different options. So far that has helped Jones put up good numbers. He wont break the slate, but Jones is a great value play if he's still going to get around 8-10 targets per game.

Jerand Bradley, Texas Tech ($4,000)

Bradley has a dozen catches already through two games and he's still this cheap. That's six free points per week not counting yardage. Donovan Smith looks to Bradley quite a bit. That won't change here in what will be another big game for the Red Raiders. If Bradley gets me another double-digit effort, I'm going to be very happy with the investment.

Also consider: Xavier Worthy, Texas ($7,300); Jalen McMillan, Washington ($6,800); Myles Price, Texas Tech ($5,300); Jerjuan Newton, Toledo ($4,300); Ja'Lynn Polk, Washington ($3,200)

College Football DFS Game Stack Options

You know which team stacks are often good, but this isn't baseball. Game stacks can and do work. Just look at Appalachian State-North Carolina last week. That game made several DFS players a few thousand bucks. Who can do that this week? Let's check it out!

SMU at Maryland

Defense is optional for both teams. SMU is a more proven commodity on offense, but I like a lot of the Maryland pieces as well. Mordecai and Rashee Rice should be in any lineup. If you are looking to do deeper than that for the Ponies, I would go with running back Tre Siggers over any of the other receivers. Moochie Dixon is a good, cheap way to get exposure. With Maryland, you need Taulia. Beyond that, I love the discount on Jones. Demus was the leading receiver before a devastating knee injury last year. Right now, Jarrett is probably best to pair with Jones, but you might be able to get away with using all three. I would avoid the Maryland backfield. There's a lot going on there and not much rhyme or reason to any of it.

Honorable Mention: Texas Tech at North Carolina State
