Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews had a record-breaking night against Dallas on Thursday, becoming the franchise record holder for most goals scored in a season and also setting a new mark for most goals scored in a season by an American-born player. He struck twice and helped the team to a 4-3 overtime victory, netting his 56th goal of the campaign in the extra frame. Rick Vaive previously held the Maple Leafs record with 54 goals, and Jimmy Carson and Kevin Stevens shared the American record with 55 goals. Matthews has simply been a scoring machine lately with 20 goals scored in his past 15 games. He's had 10 points in four April appearances alone and now boasts 97 points for the whole season in 66 games.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
