Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox - Yesterday's Recap

Welcome to the Friday, August 2nd edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on August 2nd. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings

  • Holding onto Jameson Taillon? Stop, Drop, and Roll to the next one. Season-ending surgery.
  • Hello Yamamoto. POW! Max Kepler w/his 30th crowd-pleaser. Wunderbar! Wunderbar! Wunderbar!
  • Surprise. New Twins bullpen blew the game.
  • Scott Kingery only 45% owned. Solid player w/no respect. 13HR, 8SB, .276AVG.
  • J.T. Realmuto reminds us he was brought in for a reason. 409ft torpedo(15)
  • Zack Wheeler (not traded) sheer domination. 7IP, 0ER, 7K. Get off my ear! It makes me no never mind that it was against the White Sox.
  • Robinson Cano keeps putting up homer after homer after homer. So hot! You can’t count that high so I’ll do it for you. 10!
  • Matt Chapman w/grown-man homer. 432ft. Matches career-best(24).
  • Blake Treinen keeps racking up W. 6-3.
  • Liam Hendriks locks down #10 SV.
  • THUNDER! Vladimir Guerrero Jr. throws another couple of logs on the fire(13HR). 405ft & Monster 450ft mortar shell. Did you miss this trade opportunity?
  • Trey Mancini & Renato Nunez show you can get production from below-average teams. 25HR each.
  • Danny Jansen hit his 9th tater. Now don’t go get hyped again that the revolution is here.
  • Brendan McKay is back. Minimizes damage vs. BOS. 5.1IP, 3ER, 7K. Damn, he’s good. Do the Devil Rays torture him?
  • Speaking of torture, Nate Lowe demoted. 5HR, 13RBI, .294AVG in 102AB. .291vR/.304vL. Speechless…after what I’ve already said anyway.
  • Why do I see Ji-Man Choi in the lineup? Utter Befuddlement!
  • Three doubles for Andrew Benintendi. That’ll do, Benny. That’ll do.
  • Austin Meadows gives you 17th HR. Future is so bright for this young man.
  • Why is Andrew Cashner 35% owned? 5.2IP, 7ER, 5BB, 1K. So bad.
  • “Welcome back, Danny Salazar” ~ George Springer. “Wow, your kindness is unparalleled. Allow me to provide your 25th HR.” ~ Salazar.
  • Gerrit Cole saunters into the 13-win club.
  • Yasiel Puig’s speed plays in Cleveland too (15).
  • Who was the only guy to keep the Cardinals from throwing a no-hitter? Newly acquired Nicholas Castellanos.
  • Jack Flaherty was marvelous. 7IP, 1H, 0ER, 9K.
  • Freddie Freeman w/quick damage. 26th HR. 85RBI, .305AVG. He loves the youthful support.
  • Join Adam Duvall on his flying HR carpet. Five HR in last week.
  • Cody Bellinger not going down without a fight. 35th HR to match Mike Trout in chase for Christian Yelich.
  • Will Smith imitates big brother w/sixth whopper.
  • Have a great Friday. Innovative ideas today. Let the stream of consciousness happen
  • No Fear, Just Fantasy.
