Week 12 Fantasy Football Quarterback Outlooks
Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy looked good in his return to play in Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals, completing 19 of 26 passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns. Purdy produced his typical high-efficiency numbers after missing the last six games with a toe injury. The 25-year-old finished as QB6 for the week and looks primed for a strong rest of the season finish with San Francisco continuing to get healthier on offense.
Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall also made his return from a multi-game absence in Week 11 against Arizona, and while he recorded just one reception for zero yards, the 2024 first-round pick looked excellent early in the season and developed a real rapport with Purdy. The Iowa State product is surrounded by a strong core of weapons and projects as a solid QB1 for Monday night against the Panthers in Week 12.
Tyrod Taylor, New York Jets
New York Jets quarterback Tyrod Taylor was named the starter over Justin Fields for Week 12 against the Baltimore Ravens. While Taylor has a pair of turnovers in each of his last two games, he could benefit from this week's matchup. Baltimore has allowed the 12th-most passing yards to opposing quarterbacks in 2025, and the Jets are 13.5-point underdogs, which means Taylor should have to throw the ball often. He'll benefit from increased passing volume, as well as the potential for garbage-time scoring if Baltimore takes a massive lead as expected.
Plus, Taylor has some rushing upside, as he tallied 48 rushing yards in his lone start earlier this season. The dismal state of the Jets' offense is hard to ignore, and managers are right to be worried about Taylor's weapons with Garrett Wilson (knee) sidelined. However, this week's game script and matchup could put Taylor into the low-end QB2 tier, at least temporarily.
Kirk Cousins, Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins took over the starting job this week with Michael Penix Jr. (knee) on Injured Reserve. The veteran has struggled since signing with Atlanta, but he could get back onto the fantasy radar with high passing volume and the benefit of throwing to a star receiver in Drake London (knee). London has 60 catches, 810 yards, and six touchdowns this year, and his emergence as a top receiver in the NFL should bode well for Cousins' fantasy value, although he's going to be without him in Week 12. He'll also have decent targets in Darnell Mooney, Kyle Pitts Sr., and Bijan Robinson at his disposal.
Cousins is a gunslinger who should rack up passing yardage and touchdowns, so the biggest concern is whether he can limit turnovers. He has not yet thrown an interception through three games (one start) in 2025, and he'll be eased into action with a soft matchup against the New Orleans Saints in Week 12. He's a solid low-end QB2 who can be started in superflex leagues.
Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love (shoulder) was a full participant during Wednesday's practice session. This is good news after Love was briefly forced to exit the game during Sunday's win over the New York Giants. Barring any setbacks, Love should be ready to go versus the Minnesota Vikings in Week 12.
The Packers have a bunch of banged up players on offense, which could impact the fantasy value of Love, assuming they sit out. Fantasy managers who have Love rostered should monitor the injury report throughout the week.
Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (ankle) was a non-participant during Wednesday's practice session due to an ankle issue. Last week, Jackson missed practice time due to a knee issue. Despite that, Jackson did suit up for last week's matchup against the Cleveland Browns.
The assumption was that he missed practice to begin the week due to the same issue. That isn't the case as Jackson appears to be now dealing with an ankle problem. There isn't a ton of context on the issue, so fantasy managers will need to check back for more updates throughout the week. The assumption is that it's a minor issue, but fantasy managers will know more later in the week.
Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield (illness) was under the weather on Wednesday with an illness and did not practice, according to Tom Pelissero of ESPN. There is a bug going around Tampa's locker room right now, which is something to keep an eye on heading into Sunday night's showdown against the Los Angeles Rams. However, Mayfield should be good to go by the time Sunday rolls around. The 30-year-old signal-caller is just outside the top 10 QBs in overall fantasy points so far in 2025 with 2,365 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and only three interceptions in 10 games played.
However, he has failed to top 200 yards passing in two of the last three games and will have his hands full this weekend in L.A. against a Rams defense that just forced Seahawks QB Sam Darnold into four picks. Mayfield will be more of a high-end QB2 for fantasy managers if he's active on Sunday night.
Davis Mills, Houston Texans
Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills will make his third straight start for the Texans after helping his team past the Jaguars and Titans the last two weeks. He'll face the Bills on Thursday night, stepping in for C.J. Stroud (concussion), who is still not ready to return. Mills has put up solid numbers in both his wins, throwing for 292 passing yards against the Jaguars and 274 passing yards against the Titans. He has three passing touchdowns and a rushing score in those two contests, while attempting over 40 pass attempts in each game.
He can be a fringe start in two-QB leagues or even a bye-week fill-in for deep leagues, but he does have a tough home matchup against the Bills, who have allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. If Mills has to try and keep up with Josh Allen, he could be poised for another high-volume game, but his tough matchup keeps him as the QB22 in RotoBaller's rankings for Week 12, meaning he isn't a great option in standard, single-QB leagues.
