2024 NFL Draft – Predicting First-Round Picks For The NFC East

Jayden Daniels - Fantasy Football Rankings, College FB, QB, NFL Draft Sleepers

Mike Fanelli looks who could each team in the NFC East draft in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The 2024 NFL Draft is less than two weeks away, and the rumor mill is on fire.

While the NFL Draft is nearly here, the general public has no idea what will happen after the Chicago Bears select Caleb Williams with the first overall pick.

Let’s look at potential first-round draft targets for every team in the NFC East.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys were the least active team in free agency, only adding Eric Kendricks. Meanwhile, the team lost several starters, including four on offense. Michael Gallup was released and remains unsigned, while Tony Pollard signed with the Tennessee Titans. More importantly, Dallas lost two starters on their offensive line.

Tyron Smith signed with the New York Jets, while Tyler Biadasz joined the Washington Commanders. Thankfully, Tyler Smith can move from left guard out to left tackle to replace the future Hall of Famer. However, Dallas still needs to replace Biadasz at center. They brought in Oregon’s Jackson Powers-Johnson for a top-30 visit and could select him with their first-round pick.

New York Giants

While the Giants would love to take a quarterback like J.J. McCarthy with the sixth overall pick, New York will likely draft a wide receiver in the first round. The team has ignored the wide receiver position for years, lacking a legitimate No. 1 caliber guy since Odell Beckham Jr. got traded in 2019.

Fans hope Marvin Harrison Jr. slides to their draft pick. However, he likely doesn’t make it out of the top five picks, making Malik Nabers or Rome Odunze more realistic options. Nabers has a chance to be the first wide receiver drafted, ahead of Harrison, making him the odds-on favorite to land with the Giants.

Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia made several additions this offseason on offense and defense. They signed Saquon Barkley in free agency, finally paying up for a big-name running back. The Eagles brought back C.J. Gardner-Johnson after a year with the Detroit Lions. Philadelphia also swapped out Haason Reddick for Bryce Huff.

The Eagles don’t have a glaring need on paper like the rest of the NFC East. However, they typically use their first-round pick on an offensive or defensive lineman, including back-to-back years. Philadelphia could target a high-upside pass rusher like Penn State’s Chop Robinson with their first-round pick. They could also explore adding a cornerback like Nate Wiggins, with Darius Slay and James Bradberry having rocky 2023 seasons.

Washington Commanders

After trading Sam Howell to the Seattle Seahawks earlier this offseason, the Commanders will select a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft. Washington could select Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, or J.J. McCarthy with their top pick.

Some believe the Commanders will shock everyone and select the former Michigan star with their top draft selection. However, most think the team is deciding between Maye and Daniels. The betting market has Daniels as a slight favorite, while some beat reports believe Maye will be the pick. The public likely won’t know until the night of the draft.
