Yahoo MLB DFS Advice (5/15/17): Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks

Happy Monday morning, or afternoon, or whenever you happen to be reading this. There are seven games on the docket Monday with all of them happening in the evening. Unfortunately only six of the seven games are connected to the GPP's so they're the ones that I'll be focusing on as a result. It's unfortunate because the one game that is withheld from the GPP slate is the tilt that features Carlos Carrasco and the Indians against Chris Archer and the Rays. It just goes to show you how hard it is to get dealt two aces. The start times of the six games that are indeed connected to the GPP contests range from 7:07 to 10:15 EST. Yahoo has some great value options to choose from for DFS games so let's get down to business (because, as usual, it's business time).

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for Yahoo on 5/15/17. The DFS lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays on Yahoo.

You can read our FanDuel and DraftKings DFS lineup picks as well. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @justinrklein.

DFS Lineup Stacks to Consider on Yahoo

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are probably never going to be in this spot again this year, so I might as well go with them. I think they are a strong stack Monday evening and they will likely be a contrarian play as well. Mike Trout will surely be highly owned, but I doubt that many will go ahead and pair him with Jesse Chavez and a few other Angels bats. With the third highest projected run total on the Monday slate I like using Los Angeles as a sneaky stack.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider on Yahoo

Dan Straily vs HOU ($36)

Straily is the best of the bunch on Monday and that's not saying a lot as Dan has averaged just 17 fantasy points per game this season. On Monday night Straily and the fish will face off with Joe Musgrove and the Astros at home at Marlins Park. This bodes well as it's a pitcher friendly park. While the Astros are a tough matchup Straily will face them as the most consistent pitcher on the slate.

Jesse Chavez vs CHW ($32)

Chavez is the biggest favorite on the Monday night slate and he's facing a weak White Sox offense at home at the pitcher friendly confines of Angels Stadium of Anaheim. I expect Jesse to post solid ratios and a decent amount of K's in a likely win. For $32 he's a solid value play even though he's a fairly vanilla one.

DFS Infielders to Consider on Yahoo

Catcher (C) - Buster Posey vs LAD ($17)

Buster Posey has been on fire of late as he's cranked out seven hits including three HR in his past 17 at bats. Although it's a tiny sample Posey has posted an insanely good .444/.524/.611 triple slash at home against RHP. Monday night he'll face RHP Brandon McCarthy and the Dodgers at home at AT&T Park. While he's the most expensive catcher in the DFS game he's well worth paying up for when he's this hot and he has this good of a matchup.

First Base (1B) - Kendrys Morales vs ATL ($17)

On Monday night Kendrys and the Blue Jays will face off with veteran RHP Bartolo Colon at the hitter friendly Rogers Centre in Toronto. That's good for Kendrys' value in the fake game as he's mashed RHP at home in his career to the tune of a .212 ISO, .358 wOBA and a wRC+ of 126.

Second Base (2B) - Jonathan Villar at SD ($13)

According to our MLB Lineup Generator (one of the tools you have access to with a premium account) Villar has the second highest projected point total on the Monday slate, behind only Robinson Cano. Seeing as how Jonathan is the seventh most expensive second baseman he is a solid value play. In his career against RHP Villar has swiped 82 SB.

Third Base (3B) - Jake Lamb - vs NYM ($16)

Across 509 plate appearances in his career at home against RHP Lamb has managed a tremendous .220 ISO, .353 wOBA and a wRC+ of 111. On Monday night he'll face RHP Zack Wheeler and the Mets at home at Chase Field. Sometimes it's as simple as that. Make your lay ups.

Shortstop (SS) - Brandon Crawford vs LAD ($10)

Brandon Crawford and the Giants host RHP Brandon McCarthy and the Dodgers on Monday night and that bodes well for him and his owners in the fake game. In his career against McCarthy Crawford has managed six hits in twelve at bats including a double and two triples.

DFS Outfielders to Consider on Yahoo

Nelson Cruz vs OAK ($24)

Nelson Cruz against a left handed pitcher is usually an auto start. This is because over the course of his career he's mashed LHP to the tune of a .260 ISO, .395 wOBA and a 148 wRC+. At home those numbers go up to .270 ISO, .416 wOBA and a 159 wRC+. So basically you want to start Cruz at home against every LHP regardless of the price. When you factor in that Cruz has posted six at bats against Sean Manaea (the LHP he'll be facing Monday evening) and managed three hits including a HR and a 3:1 BB:K ratio the matchup gets even more attractive. So join me and get Cruz and his boomstick into all of your lineups.

Mike Trout vs CHW ($28)

You’re the best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You’re the Best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You’re the Best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you dow-ow-ow-ow-own

Mike Trout is the best around. At home against RHP this season he's posting superhero numbers. His triple slash of .377/.444/.868 is astounding, but it doesn't even compare to his .491 ISO, .523 wOBA and his 251 wRC+. Those numbers are silly good. So much so that he's worth much more than $28. The most expensive bat on the slate is also a strong value play. That's gnarly; so join me and get the Millville Meteor into all of your lineups.
